The Federal Government has announced that foreigners who recently traveled to Brazil, India, and Turkey would be denied entry into Nigeria starting from Tuesday 4th May 2021. This was disclosed by the Secretary to the Federation (SGF) and the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID 19, Mr. Boss Mustapha.
Following the spike of covid-19 infections in some countries of the world, the Nigerian government has barred travellers visiting Nigeria from India, Turkey and Brazil. Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 who is also the Secretary to the government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha gave the order in a statement on behalf of the federal government.

Following the daily records of Covid-19 cases that have been diminishing for a while, Nigeria as of Thursday recorded 62 new cases in 10 states.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has yesterday reported that Nigeria has recorded a fresh 35 cases of coronavirus from six states of the federation.
The World Health Organization has raised alarm over millions of children in Africa at risk of a major measles outbreak as several African countries have delayed vaccinations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was made known by the health body during the 2021 World immunization week themed “Take action: Get yourself and your loved ones Vaccinated”, saying 15 African countries delayed rolling out the measles immunization drive in 2020 over the COVID-19 pandemic, while seven out of eight countries have so far completed the immunization campaigns.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Africa Centres for Disease Control (Africa CDC) on Thursday urged African countries not to destroy Covid-19 vaccines that have expired. This advice came following confusion in Malawi and South Sudan they said they would discard more than 70,000 doses of the AstraZeneca jab that were out of date. The WHO's Africa regional director Matshidiso Moeti said."Our advice would be that countries should ensure that they store the vaccines safely as we continue to study and try to get definitive advice on whether the vaccines can be used for longer." “My understanding is that the expiry date could be several months longer than had initially been envisaged. But we will look for the definitive information,” she added.
