The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NDCD) has yesterday recorded 120 persons infected with the coronavirus,the lowest daily recordin the country in the last five months. The health agency stated this on its official Twitter handle yesterday pushing the active cases in the country to now, 13,245. Nigerian government since the outbreak of the coronavirus on February 27, last year has so far only tested 1,601, 396 persons of the infection.
Accordingly, the number of confirmed cases in the country has now been put at 160,657 confirmed cases with 120 death cases related to the covid-19 complication, but there is no death case in the last 24hrs. The health agency also reported that about 685 people have been successfully treated and discharged between Saturday and Sunday.
It stated that “Our discharges on Sunday include 82 community recoveries in Lagos State, managed in line with guidelines,” this has pushed the discharge toll to 145,399 and the death toll recorded was put at 2,013. The cases of yesterday according to the health agency were reported from Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and 13 states across the federation.
Lagos, Rivers and Kaduna states reported the highest number of figures yesterday of the coronavirus infection with 32, 25 and 20 respectively. Other states were Bayelsa with 13 persons, Kano 7 persons and Jigawa and Borno reported 5each, plateau state reported 2 persons, while Ogun, Nasarawa and Imo state each reported 1 case.
According to the report, the Multi-sectorial National Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), activate at level 3 had continued to coordinate the national response activities in the country, while the ban on public gathering has remained in force to tame the spread of the virus. The health agency has urged the members of public to abide by the set protocol in a bid to remain safe from the disease.
