Lagos State Health Commissioner, Akin Abayomi, has recovered from COVID-19 after testing positive. Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, made this disclosure in a tweet he shared. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that 138 more infections were reported in the last 24 hours, which is the lowest number of Cases In Four Months.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has expressed optimism saying he hopes the coronavirus pandemic will be over in under two years. Speaking at a conference in Geneva, on Friday, the head of the health organization said the Spanish flu of 1918 had taken two years to overcome. He added that current advances in technology in the healthcare sector could enable the world to bring to an end the virus "in a shorter time" according to the BBC.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday night announced new 593 confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total in the country to 50,488. The new cases were reported from 16 states: Plateau (186), Lagos (172), FCT (62), Oyo (27), Delta (25), Rivers (20), Ondo (19), Edo (18), Kaduna (17), Enugu (12), Akwa Ibom (10), Ogun (7), Abia (6), Gombe (6), Kano (3) and Osun (3). The deadly virus has so far claimed the lives of 985, while 37,304 patients have recovered.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has disclosed that as at yesterday Tuesday Nigeria has recorded an additional 241 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus infection pushing the toll to 10,819. Although,there was an observed decrease in the number of the infection on Tuesday when compared to that recorded on Monday.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced the end of the emergency phase of the 2020 Lassa fever outbreak, This was after a successful decline in cases below the emergency threshold, and an epidemiological review carried out by the NCDC and the World Health Organization( WHO).
