The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has disclosed that as at yesterday Tuesday Nigeria has recorded an additional 241 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus infection pushing the toll to 10,819. Meanwhile, 15 deaths were also recorded from the deadly virus, bringing the total deaths to 314. Although,there was an observed decrease in the number of the infection on Tuesday when compared to that recorded on Monday.
The NCDC disclosed the new 241 cases were recorded in 14 states across the country. The states who recorded the cases were; Lagos-142, Oyo-15, FCT-13, Kano-12, Edo-11, Delta-10, Kaduna -9, Rivers-9, Borno-8, Jigawa-4, Gombe-3, Plateau-3, Osun-1 and Bauchi-1.’
The agency revealed “Till date 10819 cases have been confirmed, 3239 have been discharged and 314 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory,”
A careful examination of the cases revealed that Lagos state has continued to take the lead with so far reported cases of up to 5,277, followed by Kano state with 970, and FCT with 687, followed by Katsina state with 371 cases, Edo state has 336 and Oyo has 327.
Other states presented are; Kaduna state has 297, Borno state has 296 and Ogun state has 280. Jigawa state has 274, Bauchi – 241, Rivers -248, Gombe – 164, Sokoto – 116 and Kwara state – 111. Plateau has 108, while Delta state has 98, Nasarawa – 80, Zamfara state has 76 and Yobe has 52, Akwa Ibom – 45, Osun state has 46 and Adamawa has 42, Ebonyi – 40 and Imo – 39. Kebbi state has 33 and Ondo has 28 cases.
It was also reported that Bayelsa has 21, Ekiti – 20, Enugu and Taraba has 18 cases each, Abia state has 15, Anambra has 11, Benue state has 9 cases and finally Kogi state has 2 cases.
Many Nigeria believed the Federal Government has done enough testing as the record as of June 2nd 2020, the NCDC has so far tested 65,000 persons.
