Nigeria’s military Operation Fansan Yamma, the Joint Task Force in the north-west of the country, has launched a new major offensive against terrorist groups like Lakurawa and other armed criminals operating in the region.
This fresh operation, codenamed “Operation Clean Sweep IV”, is a mixture of coordinated air and ground military operations with the aim of destroying terrorists and their associated logistics networks to prevent them from setting up new operational bases in the North West.
This development was made known on Thursday in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt Col Aliyu Danja.
According to him, on Wednesday troops conducted a clearance operation around terrorist strongholds in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.
He also stated that in Zamfara State in the Anka Local Government Area, Operation Fansan Yamma’s air component also launched air strikes against terrorists gathering on motorcycles.
Danja also noted that the launch of Operation Clean Sweep IV showed the military’s commitment to continue conducting offensive operations against terrorists and other armed criminal elements.
More details later.
