The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to distribute sensitive materials today, August 13, 2026, ahead of the governorship election slated for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The distribution exercise is expected to be conducted at the office of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Osogbo, the capital of the state.
The Commission has also reproduced ballot papers to add the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dr Olugbenga Ajala, which was made known in a statement issued by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, stating that Ajala and his running mate, Faseke Oladipo, were included in the ballot as a result of a judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, delivered on July 22, 2026.
INEC noted that, “Consequently, the ballot papers for the election, scheduled for Saturday, 15th August 2026, are being reproduced to reflect this addition, bringing to fifteen (15) the total number of political parties contesting the election.
“The result sheets for the election are also being reproduced alongside the ballot papers to reflect the inclusion of the SDP candidate.
“INEC assures political parties, candidates and the general public of its commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible election in Osun.”
