The Nigerian Army has stated that the rate of terrorists and their associates surrendering in the Northeast has risen by 213 per cent as a result of military operations of Operation Hadin Kai.
This was made known in a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Captain Mohammed Goni.
According to him, this development was a result of continuous military operations against the terrorists, including their logistics networks, adding that the rising number of surrenders highlights the willingness of terrorists and their associates to denounce their activities and surrender.
He stated that two high-profile terrorists recently surrendered to troops along with their arms and ammunition.
Goni noted that “The recovery of these weapons and ammunition further reinforces indications that sustained military pressure is having a significant effect on the cohesion, morale and operational sustainability of terrorist elements.”
