National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, is leading a high-level Nigerian delegation to Washington, D.C., the United States of America (USA) for the USA-Nigeria Joint Working Group meeting, as both countries deepen security cooperation on counterterrorism, defence and national security.
Members of the Nigerian delegation include Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye; and Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Jimoh Ibrahim.
The US delegation is headed by Allison Hooker, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, and the Joint Working Group was created to address security concerns and improve intelligence and defence cooperation in Nigeria, especially after the USA designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).
Both countries held its inaugural meeting in January in Abuja, Nigeria, while this meeting scheduled for today, 13 August, 2026, is for Nigeria to present its progress against insecurity, amongst other things.
