A 7.5 magnitude earthquake has hit the western part of Japan this afternoon triggering a red alert for tsunami.
As the pandemonium gets higher, residents were prompted to evacuate all the affected coastal areas with immediate effect by the authority. According to the United States Geological Survey, USGS, the earthquake was measured to be approximately 10km depth and 42km northeast of Anamizu in Ishikawa prefecture.
Meanwhile, the Japanese Metrological Agency, JMA, revealed that the 7.5 magnitude earthquake is the largest recorded in the province of Noto Penusula in Ishakawa prefecture after similar one was recorded in 1885.
The disaster triggered another ripple effect of other dozens of earth quake.
In the meantime, the JMA has issued a tsunami warning to residents, saying waves as high as 5meters and minimum of 3meters could be expected.
Since year 2011, this is the first time the Japanese authority is issuing a tsunami warning after 9.0 magnitudes were recorded and about 10,000 lives were lost in that year.
The tsunami warning has also included its immediate neighbours like South Korea and Russia to be on alert too.
As breaking news the Japanese media has flashed “Evacuate” calling on residents of the affected areas to flee to higher grounds in case of eventuality despite the biting cold.
The statement said, “We realise your home, your belongings are all precious to you, but your lives are more important above everything else. Run to the highest ground possible”.
The national media NHK aired the news, showing building collapsing into a plume of dust around the coastal city of Suzu where residents in kanazawa city were seen trembling and scampering for safety under tables as tremors shook them.
Other tall, building in Tokyo, the central city were not spared by the disaster.
Some motorways had to be closed as well as bullet trains between Ishikawa prefecture and Tokyo have all been suspended.
Japanese prime minister, Fumio Kishida revealed that the government has immediately set up and emergency response team to gather information on the disaster and relay them as quick as possible for possible action.
