President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that his administration is committed to delivering tangible improvements in infrastructure, food and energy security, education, and long-term economic stability.
During a meeting with the Forum of Former Presiding Officers of the National Assembly, led by former Senate President Ken Nnamani, Tinubu emphasized his dedication to serving the nation rather than seeking personal gain. “I didn’t come to look for money; I came to work. I asked for the votes, and Nigerians gave them to me,” he stated, as reported by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga.
The meeting included 16 former presiding officers, encompassing past Senate presidents and House speakers. The President expressed gratitude for their support, regardless of party affiliations, urging them to promote unity to achieve national development goals.
Reflecting on the complexities of governance, Tinubu highlighted the need for collaboration and inclusiveness, saying, “Regardless of past party differences, we can progress together.” He acknowledged the economic hardships faced by the nation and urged for a collective effort to rebuild neglected communities and improve education standards.
The President outlined his administration's commitment to enhancing infrastructure, complying with financial regulations, and exploring alternative energy sources. “We have come a long way, and I promise we must do our best,” he affirmed.
Senator Nnamani, speaking on behalf of the delegation, expressed full support for Tinubu’s initiatives and highlighted the urgent need to tackle insecurity, economic challenges, and infrastructural decay. He praised the President's approach to local government autonomy and reiterated the group's resolve to assist in nation-building.
Nnamani concluded by commending Tinubu for appointing members of their group to key national positions, recognizing their essential role in governance.
