Valentine Ozigbo, an ally of Peter Obi and member of the Obidient Movement says he can guarantee that Obi, the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate in the 2023 polls, will no longer run on the party’s platform.
Ozigbo who resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022 to joined LP to support Obi’s presidential ambition, has migrated to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing his unwavering commitment to the greater vision for the state.
In his resignation letter, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria said he informed Obi of his decision as a mark of deep respect for his leadership.
Ozigbo said he has witnessed several behind-the-scene discussions around coalition of political parties.
“I don’t see a future for the Labour Party. I’m happy to live with that assertion, and I would like to be proven wrong”.
“Peter Obi that we are talking about also left ANPP to APGA to PDP to Labour Party, and I can almost guarantee that if he wishes to run for election, it’s not going to be under Labour Party. I can almost guarantee that.”
“I am not his spokesperson. Maybe I am wrong, but I am a witness to a lot of discussions around coalitions and which I can tell you my own optimism about that.”
Reflecting on his time in the PDP, Ozigbo recalled a fair and transparent primary election under Uche Secondus’ leadership, but noted that when the party’s leadership changed, internal dynamics shifted, affecting its performance.
