The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has initiated the airlift of essential election materials for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Benin, Edo State, in preparation for the governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, emphasized that this operation is part of a comprehensive effort to ensure the timely and secure delivery of sensitive materials crucial for the election's success.

"This airlift operation exemplifies the strong collaboration between NAF and INEC, aimed at enhancing logistics and ensuring a peaceful electoral process in Edo State," Ali stated.

He also highlighted the commitment of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, who recently met with INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu to reaffirm NAF's dedication to facilitating the rapid transport of electoral materials.

"This initiative fulfills NAF’s constitutional responsibility to provide Military Aid to Civil Authorities," Ali added, underscoring the Air Force's role in supporting the democratic process.
