According to ESPN, the group stage draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been scheduled for December 5 and will take place in Las Vegas. FIFA selected the U.S. city after deciding against hosting the event in Mexico or Canada. The 2026 tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature 48 teams, an expansion from the previous 32-team format.
Pachuca football executive Pedro Cedillo confirmed the date, saying, “If I’m not mistaken, December 5 is the exact date for the draw, or at least early December. I’ve been informed it will be in Las Vegas, and that’s where we’ll need to promote Pachuca, Hidalgo state, and our two venues."
Interestingly, Las Vegas also served as the draw location during the 1994 World Cup, the last time the U.S. hosted the event, with proceedings held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
