Ademola Lookman has completed his move to Atletico Madrid after signing a long-term deal with the club to play for them until 30 June 2030.

Atletico Madrid signed the striker from Atalanta for a reported fee of €40 million.

The 27-year-old has been assigned the number 22 jersey of the team, and the head coach, Diego Simeone, expressed his delight at Lookman’s signing.

Simeone said, “He joined the group very quickly, and you could immediately notice his physical strength, his speed, his ability to change the play, and his power in the final third.

“We hope he can help us in the way he believes he can and in the way we expect. And obviously, those important partnerships are formed for the good of the team, because that’s what it’s about: bringing good players together.”

The 2024 African Footballer of the Year was born in the United Kingdom on 20 October 1997 and represented England at the youth level but switched to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in 2022, earning 41 caps and scoring 11 goals.
