Victor Osimehn, the Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, on Wednesday, clinched the 2025 Gentleman Quarterly Sportsman award during a black-tie ceremony in Istanbul, Turkey.
The event, hosted each year by the Turkish edition of GQ Magazine, an influential global men’s fashion and lifestyle outlet, honors exceptional individuals in diverse categories such as sports, music, and film.
The 26-year-old football star has contributed significantly to the continued success of his team since joining the club, making him one of the favorites among the fans of Galatasaray.
Osimhen received the award in recognition of his exceptional impact at Galatasaray, where he scored 37 goals and supplied seven assists in 41 matches, helping the team to win both the Super Lig and Turkish Cup trophies in his first season.
His exceptional skills motivated Galatasaray to break the Turkish transfer record of €75 million to secure his permanent move from Napoli.
In Nigeria, the football star has continued to shine for the Super Eagles despite the setback of failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. After missing the opening four qualifying matches, Osimhen came back to score six goals in five appearances, playing a key role in guiding the team to the play-offs.
He is set to lead the Super Eagles’ frontline as they bid for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations crown at the 2025 tournament in Morocco, which will run from December 21 to January 18, 2026.
Osimhen expressed his appreciation to the organizers, his club, and the supporters in his speech after he received the award.
“I want to say a big thank you to GQ. Can’t forget my Galatasaray family. This means so much to my family and me. I appreciate everyone who has supported me up to this hour.
“I will continue to do my best for my family, for Galatasaray, for the fans all over the world,” he said.
The ceremony also honored several other prominent figures, including Turkish actor Aras Aydın, recognized as the International Achiever of the Year, and Turkish actress Sinem Ünsal, awarded
Woman of the Year.
Others are British-Turkish singer-songwriter Edis, recognized as Music Person of the Year, and Bahtiyar Büyükduman, who was awarded Chef of the Year.
The event witnessed the presentation of 11 awards, underscoring accomplishments from various sectors in Turkey.
