His double on Tuesday took his tally for the year to 55, one more than the Barcelona icon, with the trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Robert Lewandowski all finishing the year on 53 goals.
The 24-years-old England striker had scored a hat-trick against Burnley on Saturday to take his tally to 50.
Apart from ending the year as the leading scorer of 2017, his tally of 38 Premier League goals has seen him break Alan Shearer's record of 36 Premier League goals in a single calendar year, set back in 1995.
