Paris Saint Germain attacker, Kylian Mbappe has become the youngest player to score ten goals in the history of Champions League. The 18-year-old French player increased his tally to ten on Tuesday night encounter against Bayern Munich after scoring the opening goals although his side went on to lose 3-1 at the Allianz Arena.
His closest rival, Karim Benzema had hit that mark at the age of 20 while Lionel Messi scored ten goals only when he was 21. Former Manchester United Captain, Wayne Rooney achieved the feat when he was 22.
Although PSG were defeated, they had earlier qualified for the next round, having won their previous group stage encounters with Mbappe setting the record even before the commencement of the knockout stage.
Speaking on his performance so far, former France International Marcel Desailly said;
"Even at his young age, he doesn't have to prove how exceptional a player he is. The first thing he will have to prove is that he can get into the national team and be its leader. And that's what matters before thinking he could be a great player during the World Cup. It is the same for Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo or [Lionel] Messi, even [Luis] Suarez. They already have a key status. Mbappe doesn't have one yet. He just arrived. He's one very promising player with great potential. He has however amazing potential. It's magical, coming from nowhere. He's from another planet."
