Paris Saint Germain (PSG) forward, Kylian Mbappe has again reacted to the defeat his club suffered in the hands of Real Madrid after being knocked out of the Champions League last week. While defending his team's preparation for the last-16 tie, which they lost 5-2, on aggregate, Mbappe admitted that there was a key gap between Los Blancos and Les Parisiens.
"Mentally, we wanted to face the game against Madrid as best as possible," he explained on Saturday night. "Nobody can say that we didn't try, but this is football and although we have great players, Madrid showed the difference between having great players and champions."
Speaking in defence of the Coach amidst widespread criticism, Mbappe emphasized that it was the players who let the fans down in Europe, not coach Unai Emery, who has taken much criticism and could lose his job.
"It's not Unai Emery who lost, it's PSG so it's up to all of us to be whistled. We are the ones on the pitch. It was important to get back on track because we are are still in three competitions.
"It is true that afterwards has been difficult but we are professionals, we must turn the page, and immediately move on. We will give everything for the three titles that remain."
