With as many as 8 teams involved in survival battles in this Saturday’s, the lower rung of the Nigeria Professional Football League is final match day’s attraction. Although Plateau United will be gunning for a history-making first championship triumph, it is the sheer number of teams yet to know their fate in the top flight that is sure to captivate the majority of fans across the country.
Four teams will be relegated in total at the end of the season, with Gombe United and Remo Stars which placed 19th and 20th respectively, set to be joined by two more clubs after Saturday’s fixtures.
The battle to escape 17th and 18th positions currently occupied by Wikki Tourist, 50 pts, and ABS, 49 points, will feature Shooting Stars and Abia Warriors, both on 50 points as well as Niger Tornadoes and Sunshine Stars, on 51 points.
