Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman has been nominated for the 2024 men’s Ballon d’Or prize. The 26 year old player was shortlisted along with 29 other players for the highly coveted international award.


Last season, he made 11 assists and scored 17 goals for the Italian football club, Atalanta and was also instrumental in the club winning the UEFA Europa League; their first-ever European title.

Lookman was also one of the best players at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire, which was held early this year.

Other prominent nominees in the men’s category include Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Yamine Lamal, Toni Kroos, Phil Foden, Harry Kane, Toni Kroos, amongst others.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were not nominated, the first time either of the two has been excluded from the nomination list of Ballon d’Or since 2003.
