The twenty-four schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State on November 17 have regained their freedom.
This was made known in a statement by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The statement quoted President Tinubu saying, “I am relieved that all the 24 girls have been accounted for. Now, we must urgently deploy more boots on the ground in vulnerable areas to prevent further kidnappings. My government will provide all necessary support to achieve this.”
Although details are still sketchy, but reliable sources attributed the success to a joint security team from the Office of the National Adviser (ONSA), the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies, as well as the Kebbi State government and other key stakeholders.
More details later.
