Troops deployed to the Joint Task Force (JTF) of Northeast Operation HADIN KAI rescued 74 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from a potential kidnapping by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Borno State.
The corps members, consisting of 36 males and 38 females, were rescued on Tuesday around 9:00 pm after their vehicles developed a mechanical fault and broke down close to a known kidnapping hotspot.
According to reliable sources, a military patrol was quickly mobilized to the scene after troops monitoring a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system noticed suspicious activity around the area.
The troops swiftly carried the corpers to the Tukur Yusuf Buratai Institute, Borno, to avoid a possible abduction attempt by Boko Haram or ISWAP operatives active in the region.
Military authorities have commended the troops for their swift action to assist the stranded corpers in a dangerous situation.
