Developers found guilty of violating the land use of any area in Abuja, may have to start paying for the cost of demolishing their own properties, as the Administration has threatened to begin implementation of environmental laws which stipulates financial penalties on offenders. The Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, (AMMC), Tpl. Shuaibu Umar, who disclosed this while briefing reporters at the weekend, said the measure has become necessary following the numerous abuse of building regulations as well as town planning violations.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday promised that his government would do everything possible to rescue those abducted in an attack on a mining site in Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State. In a statement signed on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President described the attack as a direct assault on Nigeria which will not be allowed to go unpunished. He also paid tributes to the military personnel who lost their lives repelling the attack saying their effort will not be in vain. We honour our security forces, and particularly those brave souls who have given their lives fighting against the evil that is terrorism. They constitute the best that Nigeria has to offer and we remember each of them. “Sadly, Nigeria’s fight against terrorism continues. It is a battle that is taking its toll on all of us. But we shall not relent, nor shall we surrender.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has expressed worry over the decreasing amount of whistleblowers despite the huge rewards the Commission offers to informants. The Commission made this known during a one-day town hall meeting in Awka, Anambra State on Thursday organized by the African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AFRICMIL) and supported by the Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONET), was themed ‘Role of Community-Based Organizations in Entrenching Whistleblowing Policy at the Grassroots'.

Several security agents, civilians, have been reportedly killed while four Chinese nationals were kidnapped by gunmen believed to be bandits who attacked a mining site in Niger State. The attack was said to have occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Ajata, Aboki in Gurmana ward of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger. The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Umar, while confirming the incident said the number of casualties is yet to be ascertained. Residents revealed that a search party found 37 bodies of soldiers and policemen in a bush near the mining site Thursday morning.
Six other corpses of civilians were also recovered from the bush.

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has revealed that the Nigeria Police Force is taking the identification of its officers via the introduction of an e- Warrant Card. This is to ensure standardization and upgrade of the Force Identification system. This was made known in a statement on the 29th of June 2022 by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Lucky Irabor, has faulted the directive of the Zamfara state governor urging his state residents to arm themselves for self-defence in the wake of banditry. Following the unabated banditry activities that have engulfed the state, the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawale had yesterday urged Zamfara state residents to procure or acquire arms for self-defence against the bandits. Similarly, the Governor also directed the state Commissioner of police to facilitate the acquisition of the arms by residents through the prompt issuance of a licence to those who indicate interest and are qualified to bear the arms.
