Governor Nasir Elrufa’i of Kaduna state has written president Buhari that terrorists in his state are now running a parallel government and a ‘permanent operational Base’ as the region has become a hub for the men underworld. The information was sighted in a memo written by the Governor to Mr. President in July Memo warning that urgent steps have to be taken to frustrate them. The terrorist wing belonging to Ansaru al-Musulimina fi Bilad al-Sudan, but popularly called Ansaru was formally a rebel faction of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist that is believed to have relocated to Birnin Gwari forest, Kaduna state after a breakaway.

The Military High Command on Thursday disclosed that two additional ISWAP terrorists who perpetrated the gruesome massacre of over 40 worshippers at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo state, on June 5, 2022, have been arrested. The Director, Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Jimmy Akpor, in a statement on Thursday, said the suspects named Al-Qasim Idris and Abdulhaleem Idris, were apprehended at Omialafara (Omulafa), Ose LGA, Ondo State on Tuesday. Akpor said the arrests were made barely hours after the disclosure of the arrest of four of the terrorists behind the attack by the Chief of Defence State (CDS), Gen Lucky Irabor. He said the suspects were apprehended through the collaborative efforts of the military and personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The disgraced Accountant General of the Federation, AGF, Ahmed Idris is seeking a plea bargain in his fraud case that he was alleged to have divert6ed N109 billion by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC. On July 22, 2022, the AGF was paraded in court by the EFCC on 14 count charges bordering on fraud alongside Godfrey Olusegun Akindele, Mohammad Kudu Usman, and a firm, Gezawa Commodity Market and Exchange Limited. Accordingly, the defendants were granted bail in liberal terms.

It has been reported that seven more kidnapped passengers who were involved in the 28th March train attack have been released. the victims who were released on 10th August 2022 had spent 135 days in captivity. It was confirmed by Tukur Mamu, the publisher of Kaduna-based Desert Herald and Media Consultant to Sheikh Ahmed Gumi that the seven hostages released include a family of six and a woman.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky Irabor, on Tuesday informed that two of the masterminds of the deadly terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, South-West Nigeria have been arrested. The suspects described as top commanders of ISWAP in Nigeria, are 32-year old Idris Ojo and 39-year old Jimoh Ibrahim.

Following months of evading security forces, a notorious bandit, Alhaji Abdulkareem Lawal, and 27 others have been eliminated by aggressive bombardments of the Nigerian military airstrikes in Katsina State, on Saturday evening.
Lawal, who is popularly called Abdulkareem Boss by his criminal colleagues, was a high-valued target on the radar of the Nigerian military and other security agencies for a while. The precision airstrikes came barely a week after service chiefs, at the last National Security Council meeting, reassured President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians that there would be a change in strategy and momentum in the fight against insurgency and terrorism and the Chief of the Air Staff’s directive to Nigerian Air Force (NAF) operational and air component commanders to ‘show no mercy’ in decimating terrorists and insurgents.
