In view of the upcoming area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) scheduled for Saturday, February 12, the FCT Police command announced on Thursday that there will be a restriction of movement. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, DSP Josephine Adeh. The statement reads in part, “The FCT Police Command in a bid to cement the security architecture and deployment towards the security architecture and deployment towards the Saturday 12th February 2022 Area council elections, will be all out to enforce the declared restrictions on the Election Day.

The Federal House of representative has declared a national emergency on the increasing spate of ritual killings in the country. The lawmakers called on the Inspector General of Police to rise to his task and bring the perpetrators to book before it spread like wildfire.
The Reps members also called on the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board to increase monitoring of video produced with ritual killing contents by ensuring that the part containing the ritual part is not allowed into the public space.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has warned that Boko Haram menace will be “a child’s play” if the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) is allowed to grow. He gave the warning when he appeared at the weekly briefing organised by the Presidential Communication Team led by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, at the State House, Abuja, on Thursday. “While the challenge of insecurity is being solved gradually, it is not yet over. I have said it times without number that in addition to what we are doing, there is a need for government to rethink and look into the possibility of hiring mercenaries.
