The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) disclosed it has uncovered two additional fake government agencies linked to the self-proclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi.
This was made known on Thursday by the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu during his briefing with State House correspondents following his submission of ICPC’s investigation report to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The ICPC chairman said that Adeyemi was never appointed and the PFIPC had no legal backing because it was neither created by an executive order or an Act of the National Assembly, adding that Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff of President Tinubu was not involved in the scheme as was alleged by Adeniyi.
He said, “The appointment letter presented by Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew was completely forged, alongside similar documents used to perpetrate the illegal activities of the fake agency.
According to him, investigations also uncovered two other fake agencies, the Foreign Capital and Wealth Investment Promotion Agency (FCWIPA) and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency, adding that administrative lapses and possible collaborators across key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) were allegedly exploited by Adeniyi.
He noted that the PFIPC probe identified the MDAs included the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), the Budget Office of the Federation.
