President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Dr. Duke Okoro as the pioneer Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun in Delta State. Prior to his appointment as Rector, Okoro was the Director of International Development at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State, and also has a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Analytical Chemistry from the University of Benin, Edo State.
Okoro is a Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria; a Fellow Nigerian Environmental Society, amongst other professional bodies.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege initiated the bill for the creation of the Federal Polytechnic, Orugun which was later passed into law by the National Assembly, and the law was subsequently assented to by President Buhari.
The newly established tertiary institution is expected to provide both full and part-time courses and training in various fields of study.
