Students of tertiary institutions in Lagos State have call on the protest organizers that they will not be a party to the planned nationwide protests that is expected to commence on August 1. It is no longer a secret that Nigerian youth from all part of the country have vowed to stage mass protests across the country beginning from August 1 to August 10 to register their displeasure to the government over the current hardship that is being experience by Nigerians.
According to the organizers of the protest, each group are expected to converge at their respective state government houses across the country and the National Assembly complex for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for FCT residents to express their anger over the hardship in Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the Lagos state Student, President of the National Association of Lagos State Students, NULASS, Mr Alimi Lekan-Idris, said yesterday that the students will not join the protest.
Alimi stated this while addressing journalists at a press conference convened at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital College of Medicine, Ikeja, Mr Alimi urged Nigerian youths to embrace dialogue.
The student leader said, “It is crucial that we remember the importance of peace and stability and use dialogue to achieve our collective goals.
”Given these significant contributions and progress we have witnessed, we wish to state that we are not in support of any protest against the government of Lagos State”.
