The Federal Government has declared public holidays for Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22, to mark the 2019 Easter celebration. In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior and made available to the news agency, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry Mrs. Georgina Ehuriah announced the holiday quoting the minister on Wednesday in Abuja.

Dignitaries were on Sunday at the Thanksgiving Service for President Muhammadu Buhari/Osinbajo’s victory organised by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. The interdenominational Service which was graced by Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode and his Oyo State counterpart, Abiodun Ajimobi was held at Obafemi Awolowo Square in Osinbajo’s hometown, Ikenne, Ogun State.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and Abuja FCT have congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for his victory as a returned president in the February 23rd presidential election. President Buhari was declared the winner of the Presidential election on Wednesday morning defeating his major challenger Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with over 4million votes.

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerians to embrace love, peace, and hospitality, especially this period that Christians are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. The President who made the call on Monday in his message to the nation on occasion of Christmas urged the populace to reflect on the “message of hope, compassion, salvation, reconciliation, forgiveness, and peace that Jesus Christ embodies and conveys.”
