Following incessant killings, recent killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen and growing insecurity in the country, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBNC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign. The CBCN urged President Buhari to stop presiding “over the killing fields and mass graveyard” that the country had allegedly become and choose the part of honour by considering “stepping aside to save the nation from total collapse.”

The Nashirullahi Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), an Islamic organization has condemned the killing of two Catholic priests and other worshippers in Benue, and other parts of the country by suspected herdsmen. The group in a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the society, Alhaji Banji Busari, regretted that at a time when everyone had heaved a sigh of relief about the successes

Saudi authorities are threatening to bar Nigerians from attending this year's pilgrimage to Mecca over fears they could spread Lassa fever, Nigeria's National Hajj Commission has said. Since the start of the year the disease has killed at least 90 people in Nigeria and more than 1,000 cases have been reported across the country.

Methodist Church of Nigeria Prelate Dr Samuel Kanu-Uche has decried the security situation of the country saying politicians were behind herdsmen killings. The prelate stated this at a news conference he called an “Apostolic Tour’’ of the Church’s Arch Dioceses in the FCT, as well as Minna and Lokoja.

Most Rev. Michael Gokum, the Catholic Bishop of Pankshin Diocese of Plateau, has made donations of food items and N45,000 to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau.

Some of the items donated include; bags of rice, beans, sugar, garri, among others.

The donation, which was made on Sunday, was facilitated by the Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of the diocese.
