Phase1 human trial of a COVID-19 vaccine called the Ad5-nCoV shows that it is safe, well-tolerated and able to generate an immune response against the SARS-CoV-2 in participants. The trial demonstrates that a single dose of the new vaccine produces virus-specific antibodies and T cells in 14 days, making it a potential candidate for further investigation.

The World Health Organisation (WHO)has said the African Region is on the verge of being certified wild poliovirus free, the Regional Director for Africa, Matshidiso Moeti disclosed. According to PremiumTimes, Moeti made the disclosure on Tuesday during the virtual World Health Assembly 2020 in Geneva, adding that the certification will be a major public health milestone in Africa.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) team has on Monday arrived Cross River State for an on-ground inspection and assessment of the states' facility as well as it's zero COVID-19 status. Addressing the team, Dr Beta Edu, the Cross River Commissioner for Health said the state has been proactive towards the pandemic even before the first recorded case in Nigeria.
