An Egyptian journalist Salah Montaser is at the centre of a Social Media storm after his “suggestion” that national team star Mohamed Salah should shave his beard which makes him look like a “terrorist” was roundly condemned across the North African country.

Montaser, a columnist with the state-run newspaper Al-Ahram, said Salah should shave his beard as it “puts him in one basket with extremists…. and terrorists.”

The first edition of the Leg Lagos Challenge, a grassroot football tournament organized by Donbalon Sports Commerz and supported by the Lagos State Government, will feature individual awards to participating players named in honour of five former Super Eagles stars, the sponsors and a former top Nigerian referee.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award will be in honour of Austin Okocha, the highest goal scorer named after the late Rashidi Yekini, while the best goalkeeper prize will be handed out in honour of Peter Rufai.

The best behaved team award is named after Mutiu Adepoju and best coach award will go out in honour of Samson Siasia.

Pep Guardiola has been subjected to a scathing attack from the Bayern Munich doctor with whom he had a highly publicised fall-out during his spell in charge of the German club.

Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt has described Guardiola as a “person with low self-esteem, who will do everything to hide it from others” in an extraordinary rebuke of the Manchester City manager.
