Super Eagles player, Alex Iwobi, has made a u-turn back to his social media platform, Instagram, after he deleted his account when he suffered troll from fans during Super Eagle defeat at the finals at the African Cup of Nation, AFCON. After the super eagle lost their final match to Ivory Coast in the AFCON finals, Iwobi deleted all posts on his account following trolls targeted at him by his Nigerian fans. The Fulham midfielder suffered what could best be described as cyber-bullying due to what Nigerians perceived as unsatisfactory midfield performance from him during the game that left Nigeria to a silver medal when they were targeting gold.
Some Nigerians fans accused Iwobi, resulting in a bombardment of threats and insults on his personality on his Instagram page.
Consequently, the 27-year-old opted to delete more than a hundred posts from his profile to save his head from such mischievous trolls.
However, on Saturday night, the star footballer shared a video on his account as a form of comeback.
Contained in that video, Alex Iwobi impresses his viewers with a preview of what seems to be an unreleased rap song.
In the clip were his football games among others – there he was exuberating on his self-confidence and disregard for those who felt he wasn’t good enough.
Among those who lent their voice and gave their support to Iwobi was the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, who enjoined the star player to keep his head up after facing heavy criticism from fans in the wake of Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast in the final.
Also, his uncle and mentor, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, as well as tournament captain, Ahmed Musa among several others backed Alex Iwobi to stay strong while urging his teasers to stay clear.
