In 2024, Samsung faced criticism over its repair policies. A contract revealed that independent repair shops were required to share customer information with Samsung to access repair parts. Furthermore, Samsung ended its self-repair partnership with iFixit, restricting DIY repair options. Despite these issues, Samsung expanded its partnership with Cell Phone Repair by Assurant (CPR) later that year, adding over 300 certified repair locations across the U.S.
In 2025, Samsung introduced significant upgrades to its Care+ with Theft and Loss program. The updated plan now offers unlimited free repairs for cracked screens and back glass on Galaxy S phones. This benefit is exclusive to the Theft and Loss plan and does not include Galaxy Z Fold and Flip devices. Notably, this enhancement came without any price increase.
Previously, customers had to pay $29 for each screen replacement. With the new upgrade, unlimited screen and back glass replacements are provided at no extra cost. Although the Samsung Care+ with Theft and Loss plan still requires a subscription fee, ranging from $8 to $18 per month depending on the device tier, customers no longer need to pay additional fees for screen or back glass repairs.
This move follows the introduction of unlimited battery repairs in March 2024. The new unlimited screen and back glass replacement benefit has been automatically applied to all current subscribers of Samsung Care+ with Theft and Loss, requiring no action from the users.
