The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called on Nigeria to sustain efforts against inflation drivers. The call was made on Tuesday by the Director-General, LCCI, Dr. Chinyere Almona in Lagos, while responding to the May inflation figure of 22.97 percent. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria’s headline inflation rate fell to 22.97 percent in May, down from 23.71 percent in April. The Director-General noted that this development marks a positive shift in the country’s inflation track after several months of persistent increases. She attributed the marginal decline to consistent monetary tightening by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), including interest rate adjustments and liquidity control measures.

On Monday, Justice Musa Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed the Federal Government's attempt to arrest Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for failing to attend the start of her defamation trial. The Nigeria Labour Congress on Thursday demanded the review of the retirement age for all categories of civil servants. This is to align with conditions already granted to selected sectors. Speaking during the May Day celebration at Eagle Square in Abuja on Thursday, NLC President Joe Ajaero made the appeal. While presenting some of the demands of the NLC, Ajaero said, “It is imperative to extend the revised retirement age of 65 years or 40 years of service currently enjoyed by teachers, health professionals, and judges to all public servants.”
