A Federal High Court in Borno has ordered for the release of no fewer than 313 suspected terrorists arrested by the military due to lack of evidence to convict the suspects. This was made known during the operational briefing to journalists by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Buba Edward, who added that the cases were prosecuted by the Department of Prosecution and the Federal Ministry of Justice.
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) at a media briefing on Thursday declared 8 persons wanted in connection to the recent killing of 17 military personnel in Okuama, Delta State, who were buried yesterday in a ceremony attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other top government dignitaries. Those declared wanted are Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Akevwru Daniel Omotegbo (a.k.a Amagben), Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Reuben Baru, Igoli Ebi and Clement Ikolo Ogenerukeywe.
The Kano High Court has sentenced a 47 year old Chinese national, Frank Geng-Quangrong to death by hanging, over the murder of his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Sani. The presiding judge, Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’ aji who delivered the judgment on Tuesday stated that the defendant’s testimony was inconsistent, thereby found him guilty, he however recommended mercy on behalf of the defendant to be considered by the Kano State governor.

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has filed criminal charges against MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd. and four others over alleged copyright infringement. The charge with number FHC/ABJ/CR/111/2024 filed in the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court was obtained by journalists on Monday. The other four defendants in the case are Karl Toriola, the chief executive officer of MTN Nigeria; Nkeakam Abhulimen, Fun Mobile Ltd.; and Yahaya Maibe.
In the three-count charge, NCC alleged that the defendants, between 2010 and 2017, “offered for sale, sold and traded for business’’, infringed the musical works of an artiste, Maleke Idowu Moye, without his consent and authorization.

The list entails individuals involved in acts of terrorism, insurgency, and violent crimes within the country. As seen on the list released by Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director, Defence Media Operations, on Friday, The names and pictures of wanted assailants were captured. The list included terrorists in the North East, and North West as well as insurgents in the South-East and North Central.
