The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has declared one of the leaders of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa, and several others wanted. The list entails individuals involved in acts of terrorism, insurgency, and violent crimes within the country. As seen on the list released by Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director, Defence Media Operations, on Friday, The names and pictures of wanted assailants were captured. The list included terrorists in the North East, and North West as well as insurgents in the South-East and North Central.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered that Bello Bodejo, the leader of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore group, be remanded in the custody of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), from where he was brought to court. This order for his remand was read on Friday before Justice Inyang Ekwo, who adjourned the case till May 27 for the commencement of trial. Recall that Bodejo was arrested on January 23, 2024 at his organization’s office in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State regarding the unveiling of an unlawful vigilante group.

The Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has intensify call for the immediate creation of state police, saying the current vigilantes being used are ill-equipped to face bandits who carry sophisticated weapons in perpetrating their crime. The call followed the incessant attack that has escalated the level of insecurity in the state following the kidnapping of over 280 students in the Kuriga area of the state. As well as, 87 persons reportedly abducted last Sunday in Kajuru Local Government Area, both incidents happened within a two week.

The Federal Government (FG) disclosed it would not pay a ‘dime’ as ransom for the release of about 280 pupils and staff recently kidnapped by bandits from the Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School at Kaduna State. This disclosure was made on Wednesday to State House Correspondents by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at Aso Rock, Abuja.

The 63 Brigade of the Nigeria Army has uncovered a criminal gun factory in Onicha Olona community, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta state. Commander, 63 Brigade Brigadier General, Ugochukwu Unachukwu, stated that the factory can produce ten guns per week. Unachukwu said, “Eight suspects involved in the family business including the mastermind of the operation, his father, mother, and sister were among those arrested at the factory.”  “The arms factory located in a forest has a surveillance post, a generating set connected from a remote location, an oven for melting of iron, and a cache of arms and ammunition.”
