Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Lagos International Airport, have arrested a Thailand returnee Oguejiofor Nnaemeka Simonpeter for importing 13.30 kilograms of heroin worth over N3.192 billion just as their counterparts at three seaports intercepted large consignments of opioids with a combined monetary value of N22,740,958,000. A statement by the Director, Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Mr Femi Babafemi on Sunday said, Oguejiofor was arrested on 7th October 2024 while attempting to smuggle out of the airport the illicit drug concealed in six backpacks and then packed into two big suitcases.

No fewer than twenty people have reported lost their lives after two passenger boats capsized in Lagos on Monday night. The boats said to be conveying 16 passengers each, caved in after a collision at Imore Lagoon around 7 p.m. It was however unclear where the boats loaded and where they were headed at the time of the accident.

A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday has granted an ex-governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, a N150 million bail over alleged N27 billion fraud charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In response to allegations of misconduct involving handling cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, the Federal Government has directed the suspension of several officers overseeing the Maximum and Minimum Custodial Centres in Kirikiri, Lagos State. This follows an audio leak suggesting that Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison, was granted unauthorized access to an apartment outside the custodial centre.

Five individuals involved in the Offa robbery incidents have been found guilty six years after by a Kwara State High Court presided over by Justice Haleemah Salman, who stated that the offences are punishable by death. The defendants are charged with conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery, and culpable homicide.

The Federal Government, through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has filed new 16-count charges of fraud against former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello in an FCT High Court. This move follows Bello's absence at a previous Federal High Court session where he faced allegations of fraud amounting to ₦80.2 billion.
