A notorious bandit leader known as Ibrahim Daji was reportedly killed in Kwanar Nasir, Gusau Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State. According to reports, Daji was allegedly killed by members of a rival faction and his body was reportedly left at the scene.
The Federal Government has expressed commitment to implementing reforms that will overhaul the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, stated this during the presentation of the report on the “National Assessment of the Situation of Children and Young Adults Deprived of Liberty”. Tunji-Ojo said the Nigeria Correctional Service Act of 2019 mandates a focus on reforming, rehabilitating, and reintegrating juvenile offenders into society. “I’m passionate about giving inmates, especially children and young adults, a second chance because I believe that a minor’s mistake should not define their future”.
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Lagos International Airport, have arrested a Thailand returnee Oguejiofor Nnaemeka Simonpeter for importing 13.30 kilograms of heroin worth over N3.192 billion just as their counterparts at three seaports intercepted large consignments of opioids with a combined monetary value of N22,740,958,000. A statement by the Director, Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Mr Femi Babafemi on Sunday said, Oguejiofor was arrested on 7th October 2024 while attempting to smuggle out of the airport the illicit drug concealed in six backpacks and then packed into two big suitcases.
No fewer than twenty people have reported lost their lives after two passenger boats capsized in Lagos on Monday night. The boats said to be conveying 16 passengers each, caved in after a collision at Imore Lagoon around 7 p.m. It was however unclear where the boats loaded and where they were headed at the time of the accident.

In response to allegations of misconduct involving handling cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, the Federal Government has directed the suspension of several officers overseeing the Maximum and Minimum Custodial Centres in Kirikiri, Lagos State. This follows an audio leak suggesting that Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison, was granted unauthorized access to an apartment outside the custodial centre.
