Former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has finally honoured invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to his media office, which announced the development in a statement on Wednesday, the decision was made after consultations with his family, legal team and political allies. In April, the EFCC had declared Bello wanted after he reportedly shunned a series of invitations and resisted arrest.
EFCC officials had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja to arrest him, but there was a stalemate.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has declared 281 inmates missing from the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State during the recent flood as a result of the collapse of the Alau Dam. This was made known on Sunday in a statement issued by the Spokesperson of NCoS, Umar Abubakar, adding that the Service has the details of the escaped inmates including their biometrics, which is being made available to the public.

Scores of bandits have been killed in a joint operation between the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) in Bassa, Niger State. The bandits were killed during a failed invasion of the security forces base at Bassa in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday granted 10 #EndBadGovernance protesters a bail of the sum of N10 million each. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is commence the prosecution of banks, top officials in Nigeria’s banking sector over allegations of financial crimes such as money laundering and fraudulent practices. This was made known on Tuesday by the EFCC Chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede, during the 17th Annual Banking and Finance Conference organized by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in Abuja.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), is advocating that any Nigerian found guilty of corruption and convicted should not enjoy state pardon. The AGF also urged the law enforcement agencies to be holistic in their investigations before approaching courts, calling on them to have their dossier intact before summoning anyone for questioning as it will give them leverage against the suspect.
