The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested and detained the National Co-ordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), Halima Shehu, over the ongoing probe into the N37,170,855,753.44 allegedly laundered in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, under former Minister, Sadiya Umar-Farouk. Recall that Vigil360 reported the suspension of Halima Shehu over financial misappropriation barely three months after her confirmation as the (NSIPA) boss by the Senate.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the committal of death sentence for 39 inmates to life imprisonment and also, the release of 246 inmates from various correctional facilities across the state. The Governor of Lagos State, on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy, signed the release on December 20, 2023, under the provisions of Section 212 (1) (2) of the 1999 Constitution of The Federal Republic of Nigeria (amended).
A 23-year-old woman, identified as Amanda Uchechi Ugo, has reportedly shot and killed police officer Cosmos Ugwu at the Ezinihitte Area Command in Imo State. Ugo, who is said to be the victim's girlfriend perpetrated the shocking crime on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, around 6:30 pm. Officers on counter duty were said to have taken to their heels when they heard three gunshots from the room being occupied by the deceased officer. The Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident to journalists saying that the suspect has been arrested. He added that the police were doing everything to ascertain what really transpired.
The Police Service Commission, PSC, has today Tuesday, made it clear that the ongoing recruitment into the Constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF is free from the beginning of the registration process to the end which include medical examination.
