The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has disclosed that its troops of Operation Udoka in the South-East have arrested a suspected “founding father” of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, and the Eastern Security Network, ESN.

In its efforts to disrupt fraud networks and also mitigate the impact of internet fraud across the country, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched a 24-hour Cybercrime Rapid Response Desk.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, on Tuesday warned that cybercrime poses grave dangers globally and nationally, urging collective action. The EFCC boss made the call at the opening ceremony of the Commission’s National Cybercrime Summit at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, emphasizing the devastating impact of cybercrime on Nigerian youth, eroding traditional values and promoting get-rich-quick mentality.

Following the recent corruption allegation against the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) by Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Kwara South, the Agency said the Senator’s statement was borne out of vendetta.

Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed concerns on the rising number of out-of-school children in the country as it poses security risk for the nation. Obasanjo state that the over 20 million out of school children in Nigeria are only being prepared for recruitment into Boko Haram and banditry in the next 10 to 15 years. He emphasized on the development of education and human capacity building. The former president said this in Bauchi State on Sunday at the commissioning ceremony of some selected projects executed by Governor Bala Mohammed.
