A Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the naira abuse case against celebrity bartender, Pascal Okechukwu, popular as Cubana Chief Priest until 25th June 2024. Cubana Chief Priest faces allegations of abusing the Naira notes during a social event at the Eko Hotel in Lagos. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Okechukwu on April 17 on a three-count charge, accusing him of spraying and tampering with Naira notes. Despite pleading not guilty, he was granted bail in the sum of N10 million.

 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has pledged a 5% reward for anyone who provides information that supports the arrest and prosecution of naira abusers.

A suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari, the former commander of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has been released on bail from the Kuje Custodial Centre, Abuja on Friday, after spending 27 months in detention. According to reports, on May 22, 2024, Justice Emeka Nwite granted Kyari a two-week bail to permit him to participate in the burial rites of his mother, Yachilla Kyari, who passed away on May 5.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has secured 3,175 convictions and recovered N156,276,691.30 in the last one year from May 29, 2023 to May 29, 2024. This was made known on Wednesday by the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede who was represented by the Secretary of the Commission, Mohammed Hammajoda during the launch of EFCC’s zero tolerance club at the University of Abuja.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has filed an application at the Appeal Court to stop his trial.

The Defence Headquarters says troops of Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), a military onslaught against oil thieves in the Niger Delta region, seized 4,124, 970 litres of stolen crude in May. It said the troops also recovered, from oil thieves, 793,796 litres of diesel and 4,480 litres petrol. The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen Edward Buba, announced this on Thursday, May 30, during a press briefing in Abuja.
