The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially handed over a 753-unit housing estate in Abuja to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. The estate was recovered from former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, after a court ordered its forfeiture in December 2024. Located in the Lokogoma District of Abuja and covering over 150,000 square metres, the estate includes duplexes and other residential units. EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, transferred the property to the housing ministry during a ceremony at its headquarters in Abuja. Olukoyede reaffirmed EFCC’s commitment to transparency, stating that recovered assets will be used for public benefit and not allowed to be looted again. He stressed that denying corrupt individuals access to stolen wealth is key to the agency’s mission.

The Federal Government has initiated an intensive manhunt for seven inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun State, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Ten inmates escaped from a New Orleans jail early Friday morning after navigating through a hole behind a toilet, prompting a manhunt and raising serious concerns about security breaches and possible internal assistance. Authorities in Louisiana have recaptured three of the 10 inmates who escaped. The inmates, including some with charges for murder, broke out of the jail in Orleans Parish at about 1 a.m. on May 16. By the end of the night, Kendall Myles, Robert Moody, and Dkenan Dennis were back in custody, according to Gov. Jeff Landry. "3 down 7 to go, and we ARE NOT slowing down! LOCK THEM UP!" Landry said in a social media post.
