The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, on Tuesday warned that cybercrime poses grave dangers globally and nationally, urging collective action. The EFCC boss made the call at the opening ceremony of the Commission’s National Cybercrime Summit at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, emphasizing the devastating impact of cybercrime on Nigerian youth, eroding traditional values and promoting get-rich-quick mentality.

Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed concerns on the rising number of out-of-school children in the country as it poses security risk for the nation. Obasanjo state that the over 20 million out of school children in Nigeria are only being prepared for recruitment into Boko Haram and banditry in the next 10 to 15 years. The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has reported that two of its transmitting towers, T133 and T136 along 330-kilovolt Shiroro-Kaduna lines 1 and 2 have been vandalized. The spokesperson of TCN, Ndidi Mbah disclosed this in a statement on Friday, stating that TCN is making plans to deploy the newly procured emergency restoration system to the site, pending the reconstruction of the damaged tower. The statement said, “According to reports from the Shiroro Regional office of TCN, the 330kV transmission line one tripped first, followed shortly by the second, as efforts were still ongoing to reclose the first line, prompting the urgent mobilization of local vigilantes to patrol the lines.”

The Lagos State High Court has ordered Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to remove slanderous comments and videos posted on Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, Folarin Falana. Justice M. O. Dawodu sitting in Lagos stated that the publications made by VeryDarkMan on his social media accounts on September 24, 2024, linking Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky) to Falz and his father, Falana, were defamatory and injurious to their public image. “Furthermore, the defamatory statements are still trending on the defendant several online platforms and the injury to their reputation continue as long as the publication remains online.

A notorious bandit leader known as Ibrahim Daji was reportedly killed in Kwanar Nasir, Gusau Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State. According to reports, Daji was allegedly killed by members of a rival faction and his body was reportedly left at the scene.
