Workers union of the Police Service Commission, PSC, has called for the removal of Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun over alleged deliberate misrepresentation and falsehood in the recent recruitment. The police in an earlier statement alleged that the process was marred by corruption and other irregularities thereby reject the exercise; however it was denied by the Joint Union Congress of the PSC.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has today dismissed the fundamental rights enforcement suit earlier filed by the Africa regional manager of Binance Holdings Limited, Nadeem Anjarwalla, against the federal government. In a short ruling on today, the presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, dismissed the suit against the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for lack of diligent prosecution.
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that its operatives have rescued the three abducted Fouani brothers and two others. On June 14 that three Lebanese brothers who work with a Lagos-based company known as Fouani Nigeria Limited were abducted by some gunmen in Lagos. Abbas Fouani, Youssef Fouani and Amtal Fouani as well as the unnamed Managing Director were said to have been abducted around 6pm on Friday around the Falomo Bridge while returning in a boat from their factory in Apapa to Victoria Island.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Rivers State Command has disrupted the activities of economic saboteurs illegally refining crude oil at cemeteries in the Abalama and Oproama communities of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Rivers State. Speaking during a four-hour operational tour along the waterway with the Marine Antivandal Squad, Command Public Relations Officer SP Olufemi Ayodele stated that the site was uncovered through credible and sustained intelligence efforts.
Men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has yesterday arrested four suspects in connection with a cocaine shipment at Emerald Hotel, Ladipo, Oshodi, Lagos, , attempting to smuggle the drug to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage. This was contained in a statement by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, and was shared on the agency’s website today Thursday, 6th June, 2024. Accordingly, the suspects, Usman Kamorudeen (31), Olasunkanmi Owolabi (46), Fatai Yekini (38), and Ayinla Kemi (34), had prepared 200 cocaine pellets (2.20kg) to ingest before their flight.
A Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the naira abuse case against celebrity bartender, Pascal Okechukwu, popular as Cubana Chief Priest until 25th June 2024. Cubana Chief Priest faces allegations of abusing the Naira notes during a social event at the Eko Hotel in Lagos. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Okechukwu on April 17 on a three-count charge, accusing him of spraying and tampering with Naira notes. Despite pleading not guilty, he was granted bail in the sum of N10 million.
