Gunmen abducted eight National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members on Saturday along a highway in Zamfara State. The victims were travelling from Uyo in Akwai Ibom State to Sokoto State for their one-year mandatory National service when the gunmen intercepted their bus along Zamfara highway.

The arraignment of suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, was stalled due to ill-health of one of the staff of the apex bank. Emefiele was charged on a 20-count of alleged procurement fraud and conferring of corrupt advantages on himself before an FCT High Court alongside Sa’adatu Yaro, a staff member of the CBN and her company, April 16 Investment Ltd.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has revealed that it has targeted several criminal elements in coordinated airstrikes in various theatres of operation across the country. This was made known on Sunday in a statement issued by NAF, Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet. According to him, on August 11, a NAF aircraft deployed to Operation Delta Safe conducted air interdiction missions at an illegal oil refining site located in South-West of Bille in Rivers State.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed August 15th for hearing the application of the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, praying the Federal Government through the Department of State Service stops his trial. More so, the Court will also entertain the application tendered by the Nigeria secret police seeking to appeal the N20m bail granted to Emefiele by the court. The judge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo fixed the date to enable the defence to reply to the prosecution’s further counter affidavit, which was served on the defence in court just before proceedings began.

An ex- Integrated Payroll and Personnel information system (IPPIS) officer at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Haruna Kolo, who was indicted for collecting bribe to offer jobs to susceptible Nigerians has confessed to the allegations of about 75 million on the order of the Commission Chairman, Farida Dankaka.

The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, is scheduled to be arraigned before the Federal High Court, Lagos on July 25 on two counts charges. Victor Opara (SAN), one of his lawyers confirmed that hearing notices to that effect have been sent out by the court to counsels involved in the matter.
