The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Bamidele Oloyelogun alongside one lawmaker and staff members of the Assembly over alleged fraudulent practices at the State High Court. Oloyelogun was arraigned alongside Felemu Bankole, a lawmaker representing the Akoko Southwest constituency 2, and Segun Bankole, a staff of the assembly. Iroju Ogundeji, a former deputy speaker of the assembly had petitioned the EFCC, alleging that the defendants conspired to share N2.4 million meant for a seminar in Lagos which they never attended.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate suspension and further investigation of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Adamawa State, Mr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari over actions of the REC during the April 15 supplementary governorship election in Adamawa State. This was made known on Thursday in a statement issued by William Bassey, the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced the dismissal of 3 officers over alleged misuse of firearms and misconduct. This was revealed on Thursday by the Force Spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stating that the officers who are attached to a singer known as ‘Rarara’ in Kano State shot into the air with their official firearms despite being in the public space with children among the crowd of onlookers.

The Lagos State Government through the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso has announced that no death was recorded in the collapse of the seven-story building under construction on Banana Island, Ikoyi on 13th April 2023. Omotoso disclosed that 25 people have been rescued from the site with about 16 people sustaining moderate injuries and 9 others with minor injuries. He also stated that no one was trapped in the rubble, those with minor injuries have been treated and discharged while others are been admitted at General Hospital, Oda, and Police Falomo.

Olalekan Jacob Ponle, popularly known as Mr. Woodberry has pleaded guilty to wire fraud and has agreed to forfeit $8 million in proceeds of crime as well as luxury cars and items in a plea deal. Woodberry is a known accomplice to the now-imprisoned cyber fraudster, Ramon Abbas, better known as Hushpuppi. The district court for Northern Illinois, US has set July 11 for Woodberry's sentencing.

A former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Prof. Onje Gye-Wado has been released after he was kidnapped on Thursday by gunmen at his country home in Rinza village, Wamba Local Government Area of the state. This development was confirmed on Monday by Nasarawa State, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramham Nansel.
