The Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi has said that fleeing Boko Haram and ISWAP members from the North are responsible for kidnapping that is ravaging the southwest and banditry in the North West.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF stated that in their quest for safe haven, the terrorist has resorted to kidnapping and hostage-taking in the southwest.
The Governor made this statement while speaking as a guest at a Channel Television Programme saying, “Some of the insurgents that escaped from the Boko Haram territory are the ones prosecuting the banditry in the North-West.
“Some of them are involved in a kidnapping in the South-West.
“ISWAP (a faction of Boko Haram) insurgents from Sudan and the Niger Republic are involved in what is going on. We must take a holistic view of this.”
According to Feyemi, the earlier the government sees this as a threat the better. He said that the government has a duty to protect the citizenry and would not fold his hand and allow terrorists to have a field day.
