President Buhari has approved the appointment of Justice Husseni B aba-Yusuf as acting Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). President Buhari’s approval was based on recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC).
This was disclosed on Saturday in a press statement by the Director of Information, NJC, Soji Oye.
According to the statement, the appointment takes effect from 1 August, 2021.
The statement also reads, “Hon Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf will be sworn-in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, CFR, on Monday, August 16, 2021 by 10am at the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”
This development comes on the heels of the voluntary resignation of Justice Salisu Garba as the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court.
Justice Garba resigned in order for him to take up the position of Administrator of National Judicial Institute (NJI).
