The Nigerian Army has announced that it repelled another attack by BokoHaram in Arege village in Borno State while attempting to infiltrate 118 Battalion. Scores of the insurgents were reportedly killed, while high caliber weapons were recovered including; one Anti Aircraft Gun, four AK 47 rifles and one Light Machine Gun, with hundreds of different caliber of ammunition.
The army disclosed this on its Twitter handle stating that the insurgents suffered heavy casualties after they met with the Nigerian army's grander military might which left them in disarray as they fled leaving behind four dead bodies of its members.
"BokoHaram met their Waterloo and suffered heavy casualties yesterday evening Nov. 28, 2018; when they attempted to infiltrate 118 Battalion location at Arege in Abadam Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno."
"The terrorists were completely routed by the troops, neutralizing many of them while others fled in disarray due to superior firepower. As a result, they hastily evacuated most of their corpses under the cover of darkness."
In a related development, the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, has been replaced with Brigadier General SaniUsman, after serving for almost nine months. Gen Usman, who was formerly the DAPR had been away on a senior executive course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos, Plateau state.
Usman confirmed that he had returned to his former position since Monday and also appreciated people who sent him congratulatory messages.
He also appealed for support from all well-meaning Nigerians.
