The Edo State Government has confirmed the arrest of seven persons including two village chiefs in connection with the January 7 train attack which resulted in the kidnap of 20 passengers at the Igueben train station, in Edo Central.
The State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, who addressed newsmen after the first weekly State Executive Council meeting of the year, said: “We are pleased to announce that the last two victims have been rescued and seven suspects are in custody, including two village chiefs. We thank the press for the support they have given in the last few weeks.”
He however declined to reveal the identity of the two arrested chiefs noting that further details should be sought from the police.
